چکیده
https://e-kcj.org An 86-year-old man with a recent myocardial infarction underwent coronary angiography, which revealed total occlusion of the left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) ostium and intermediate stenosis of the proximal left circumflex artery (LCX) (Figure 1A, Supplementary Figure 1A and 1B). After stenting with a 3.5×38-mm Resolute IntegrityTM (Medtronic, Minneapolis, MN, USA) from the left main (LM) to the LAD, we attempted T-stenting with a 2.75×18-mm Promus PremierTM (Boston Scientific, Natick, MA, USA) in the compromised LCX ostium (Figure 1B, Supplementary Figure 1C). Article Type References Response to Letter regarding Article, " Incidence and Clinical Impact of Stent Fracture after Everolimus-eluting Stent Implantation " Correspondence
We thank Dr Paul D. Williams, Dr Mama A. Mamas, and Dr Douglas G. Fraser for their interest in our article. First, we investigated the stent fracture after Xience V (Abbott Vascular) and Promus (Boston Scientific). As they note, our results, therefore, do not apply to all everolimus-eluting stents. Second, they suggest that double stent strut layer shown in Figure 4 is the consequence of stent ...
متن کاملOverview of Intracoronary Brachytherapy for in-Stent Restenosis of a Drug-Eluting Stent
Percutaneous coronary intervention with stenting is considered recently as the most common procedure for the treatment of symptomatic coronary. The article reviewed 41 studies published during 1997-2019 on intracoronary brachytherapy for in-stent restenosis of a drug-eluting stent. Intracoronary radiation therapy was finally confirmed in the setting of in-stent restenosis using as adjunctive th...
متن کاملMechanisms of Very Late Drug-Eluting Stent Thrombosis Assessed by Optical Coherence Tomography.
BACKGROUND The pathomechanisms underlying very late stent thrombosis (VLST) after implantation of drug-eluting stents (DES) are incompletely understood. Using optical coherence tomography, we investigated potential causes of this adverse event. METHODS AND RESULTS Between August 2010 and December 2014, 64 patients were investigated at the time point of VLST as part of an international optical...
متن کاملStent thrombosis: no longer an issue with newer-generation drug-eluting stents?
Drug-eluting stents (DES) were introduced to address the major limitation of bare metal stents (BMS), namely exuberant neointimal hyperplasia leading to clinical restenosis, which occurred in up to 30% of patients. Sirolimuseluting stents (SES) and paclitaxel-eluting stents (PES)— referred to as early generation DES—by means of controlled release of antiproliferative drugs had a major impact on...
متن کاملStrut position, blood flow, and drug deposition: implications for single and overlapping drug-eluting stents.
BACKGROUND The intricacies of stent design, local pharmacology, tissue biology, and rheology preclude an intuitive understanding of drug distribution and deposition from drug-eluting stents (DES). METHODS AND RESULTS A coupled computational fluid dynamics and mass transfer model was applied to predict drug deposition for single and overlapping DES. Drug deposition appeared not only beneath re...
